Effects of Priming Rice Seeds with Decoyinine on Fitness Traits and Virus Transmission Ability of the Small Brown Planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus

چکیده
Laodelphax striatellus is a notorious sap-feeding insect that also serves as vector of rice stripe virus (RSV) and responsible for significant decline in yield. Pesticide application remains crucial strategy controlling pests. In recent years, the utilization biopesticides has gained attention due to their eco-friendliness suitability pests pathogens agriculture. The present study aimed Figureto evaluate potential efficacy microbial pesticide, decoyinine (DCY), seed priming agent against SBPH’s biology, feeding behavior, RSV transmission ability laboratory. Here, we revealed body weight females males honeydew extraction RSV-virulent SBPH were (22.50%, 25.0%, 23.25%, respectively) significantly lower than non-virulent SBPH. Meanwhile, fecundity was higher (8.24%) However, nymphal survival (horizontal vertical) found be non-significantly affected by DCY application. Furthermore, DCY-primed seedlings prolonged time period frequency electrical penetration graph (EPG) waveforms (np, N2, N3), reduced waveform (N4-b) both strains with inoculation. provides new insights reducing fecundity, weight, contents, which might contribute modern integrated pest management.

Transcriptome Analysis of the Small Brown Planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus Carrying Rice stripe virus
Rice stripe virus (RSV), the type member of the genus Tenuivirus, transmits by the feeding behavior of small brown planthopper (SBPH), Laodelphax striatellus. To investigate the interactions between the virus and vector insect, total RNA was extracted from RSV-viruliferous SBPH (RVLS) and non-viruliferous SBPH (NVLS) adults to construct expressed sequence tag databases for comparative transcrip...

Background Laodelphax striatellus Fallén (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) is one of the most destructive rice pests. L. striatellus is different from 2 other rice planthoppers with a released genome sequence, Sogatella furcifera and Nilaparvata lugens, in many biological characteristics, such as host range, dispersal capacity, and vectoring plant viruses. Deciphering the genome of L. striatellus will f...
متن کاملTransmission of Rice stripe virus acquired from frozen infected leaves by the small brown planthopper (Laodelphax striatellus Fallen).
Rice stripe disease, caused by Rice stripe virus (RSV), is one of the most serious rice diseases in temperate and subtropical regions of the world. Since RSV is not transmissible mechanically, an insect transmission test was the original basis for identification of the viral population and cultivar resistance. A simple, rapid and reliable method is described by which virus-free small brown plan...
متن کاملEvidence for high dispersal ability and mito-nuclear discordance in the small brown planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus
Understanding dispersal ability in pest species is critical for both theoretical aspects of evolutionary and population biology and from a practical standpoint, such as implementing effective forecasting systems. The small brown planthopper (SBPH), Laodelphax striatellus (Fallén), is an economically important pest, but few data exist on its dispersal ability. Here, we used mitochondrial and nuc...
متن کاملDevelopment and characterization of nine polymorphic microsatellites for the small brown planthopper Laodelphax striatellus (Hemiptera: Delphacidae).
Nine microsatellite loci were isolated from the genome of Laodelphax striatellus (Homoptera: Delphacidae) by constructing (TC)(6)(AC)(5) and (AG)(6)(AC)(5) compound SSR-enriched libraries using suppression-PCR procedures. These loci were found to be highly polymorphic, with 13 to 30 alleles per locus in the three populations that we investigated (Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang). The observe...
